How to choose an end mill cutting tools?

A milling cutter is a rotating tool with one or more teeth used for milling. During operation, each cutter tooth intermittently cuts away the excess of the workpiece. End mills are mainly used for processing planes, steps, grooves, forming surfaces and cutting workpieces on milling machines.

According to the type of material, End mills are divided into:
①HSS end mills:
also known as high-speed steel, with soft hardness. High-speed steel cutters are cheap and have good toughness, but their strength is not high and they easily break. The hot hardness of high-speed steel milling cutters is 600.

②Carbide end mills:
Carbide (tungsten steel) has a series of excellent properties such as good thermal hardness, wear resistance, good strength and toughness, heat resistance, corrosion resistance, etc. In particular, the high hardness and wear resistance remain basically unchanged even at 500 degrees, and the hardness is still very high at 1000 degrees.

③Ceramic end mills:
Also known as oxidation end mills, it has extremely high hardness, heat resistance up to 1200 degrees, and extremely high compressive strength. However, it is too brittle so the strength is not high, so the cutting amount cannot be too large. Therefore, it is more suitable for final finishing or other highly wear-resistant non-metal processing products.

④Superhard material end mills:
It is excellent in terms of hardness, wear resistance, and heat resistance. It has enough toughness and can withstand temperatures up to 2000 degrees. It is more suitable because it is too brittle and not strong. Final finishing.
